Wednesday, 25 April

Buenos Dias,
It is Anzac Day here in Avila. It seems peculiar that we attended no dawn ceremonies or any AnzacDay marches as it isn't part of their culture. The sun is not up until late, communal breakfast at 9am and then the day is ours. We have been here since Sunday. Had a bit of a stuff up with the accommodation and our decisive lack of Spanish. However, we perservered and took a room at a hotel inside the wall. That was Annette's birthday.

Monday, 23 April: we got serious with exploring Avila after first finding our 'booked' accom which turned out to be situated 100m from where the taxi driver dropped us the previous day. Below is a model of CITeS.

This is an incredible place - a place where people from all over the world come to study mysticism.
Tuesday, 24 April: more exploring of Teresa 's life. We are currently in and out of time warps - lot of stuff going back 500 to 1000 yrs. Getting to know Avila quite well and , somehow or another, our bodies are holding up. We are up quite high and can look across to the nearby snow capped mtns. The food and drink here is excellent and we are forever discovering new things. I have got Annette to eat olives (2) and quests calbras (goat' milk cheese). Found a great bar - 150 beers - not one Aust. Tried Kwak - a Belgium style beer- bien!!

It's a hard life but someone's got to do it. We climb the wall today and hopefully will be able to walk all 2.5 Kms of it. Should get some spectacular shots...
Until next time, take care!
Adios!

Location:CITeS, Avila.
